Emi Saito graduated from the Film & Moving Image Department at Tokyo ZoKei University and served as a freelance assistant director for many film directors. She directed her short film "Tokyo Capsule Hotel" supported by NDJC 2017 (New Directions in Japanese Cinema 2017) and won the President’s Special Prize for her feature film project "Birth Cry" in MPA/DHU/TIFFCOM Pitching Contest in 2018 and was invited to the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2019. Her short film "One Night, Two Threads" was officially selected for several international film festivals in 2020. Her latest short film as a part of the omnibus movie Project “Divoc-12” sponsored by Sony Pictures was released in 2021.

     

東京造形大学デザイン学科映画専攻卒業。在学中から多くの映像作品を制作。卒業後フリーの助監督として、瀬々敬久監督、周防正行監督、黒沢清監督、三島有紀子監督など多くの監督のもとで経験を積む。2017年、ndjc:若手映画作家育成プロジェクトにて映画「トーキョーカプセル」を監督。2018年、長編映画企画「うぶごえ」がMPA/DHU/TIFFCOMピッチングコンテストにてプレジデント特別賞を受賞。翌年のAsia Pacific Screen Awardsに招待される。2020年、映画「一夜二糸」が国外の複数の映画祭にて上映。2021年、Sony Picturesによるオムニバス映画 DIVOC-12 にて短編映画を全国劇場公開。
